Arrival Instructions for EYE14

We can’t wait to greet you a week from today on the Villanova Campus near Philadelphia! We have been praying for you and your diocesan delegation that your travel be smooth and that you arrive safely on Wednesday, July 9. Villanova is a large campus and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the map ahead of time. Instructions specific to your arrival method are below.

Unless arranged ahead of time, we cannot check you in until 1pm. If you arrive on campus prior to that time, the Connelly Center on central campus has a little store and deli where you can purchase lunch and relax. You will be responsible for your luggage at that time as dorm rooms will not be ready prior to 1 pm.  At 1 pm one adult from your group may come to the Pavilion Lobby to register your entire group. That adult will then be instructed to meet the rest of the group at the dorm where you will be lodged.

Airport Arrivals

When you have landed, please call our airport hospitality team at 347-359-4118 to let them know you have arrived. We need to know if you are coming straight out of security or if you are taking your time for bathrooms and food. There is no food available once you leave security and come to baggage claim. We don’t want to hold up a shuttle bus for you unless you are actually on your way to baggage. Hospitality Volunteers with EYE14 signs will be looking for you as you make your way to your plane’s assigned baggage claim. You will then be ushered to a shuttle bus to campus where you will be dropped off in the East Main Parking Lot. One adult will go to the Pavilion for check in and the remainder of your group with luggage will be directed to your dorm. Dinner will be served beginning at 5:30 pm. Please call 347-359-4118 if you are experiencing flight delays so we can rearrange shuttles accordingly.

Train Arrivals

If you are traveling by train, once you arrive at the 30th Street Station catch the SEPTA Paoli/Thorndale Line (Regional Rail) to Villanova. It runs every 30 minutes and will bring you onto campus. An EYE14 Hospitality Volunteer will meet you at the station to direct one adult to the pavilion and the remainder of your group with luggage to your dorm. Please call Bronwyn’s cell phone, 646-242-1421, if you have any issues catching the local train or need additional assistance.

Arriving by Car or Bus

Please come to the East Main Parking lot at Ithan Avenue and Lancaster Avenue (US 30). You will then follow the same procedure as above for registration and luggage. If you are experiencing travel delays or find that you are lost, you may call Bronwyn’s cell phone, 646-242-1421, and someone will answer to assist you. If you are flying in, please use the number above.

Once You Arrive

Once on campus there will be optional activities to engage in and the Exhibit Hall will be open. The mandatory meeting for chaperones to go over campus safety procedures and brief you about pastoral care for the event will take place at 4 pm and again at 7 pm in the Dougherty East Lounge next to the EYE Chapel. At least two adults from each diocese (unless you only have one adult with your group) must attend a session with the Pastoral Care Team. If your arrival time prevents your participation, the team in your dorm will catch you up.

Other Reminders

Many of you have asked about laundry. If you want to use the laundry facilities in your dorm you must put money on your key card. In order to do that you will have to reach out to Valerie Harris ( with the amount of money you wish to put on your card.   The machines are 1.00 per load for wash and/or dry. Any balance can also be used up at the vending machines on campus. We will not issue laundry privileges on youth cards, only on adult cards.

It is going to be hot in Philadelphia and it will likely rain. You will be doing quite a bit of walking outside and then entering air conditioned rooms where it will feel chilly. Please remind your group to pack appropriately and to bring an umbrella or raincoat and a sweater.
